You Can Read Through The Bible!

Resources for beginning a Daily Bible Reading program.

God’s Word (the Bible) is incredibly powerful, just on it’s own, to change your life and transform your relationships, both with God and other people.

If you will give God only a few minutes a day to read His Word, He will do wonderful things in your life!

Here is some excellent advice for following a Daily Bible Reading plan:

  1. Set aside a specific TIME and PLACE for enjoying your daily Bible reading. Get a time and place that works for you, that you can stick with: morning time on your back deck, lunch break in your cubicle, in your bed just before lights out, with your spouse or roommate after dinner, etc.
  2. Make your Daily Bible Reading a joy, not a job. Read for delight, not duty. Read for happiness in the Lord, not “have to” for the Lord. Don’t read to know about God, but to know God. Take a portion of each day’s reading (a paragraph, a verse, a phrase) and engage your heart with it, meditate on it...use the text to know and enjoy God.
  3. Keep moving forward when you fall behind. If you fall behind in your reading, whether you’re a day behind or a week behind, don’t try to make up for your missed readings. Instead, simply pick up with today’s reading.
  4. Talk about and apply your discoveries. Tell other people about what you’re discovering and learning through your reading. Apply what you’re learning. Take action. Be a “doer” of the word, not just a “reader.”
  5. Major in the text, minor in notes. If you’re using one of the many Study Bibles for your Daily Bible Reading, don’t let the study notes pull your attention away from the biblical text. Major in the text, minor in the study notes.
